NIHD Employees surpass Holiday Gift Drive goal

Employees from Northern Inyo Healthcare District made the holidays brighter for some seniors in the Bishop, Calif. community by holding a gift drive. The gifts then were given to the healthcare district’s neighbors at Bishop Care Center, as well as to individuals on Airway Medical’s Wish upon A Star Tree, and the residents of Southern Inyo Hospital's Skilled Nursing Facility.

Employees from Northern Inyo Healthcare District were encouraged to bring gifts including blankets, scarves, mittens, knit caps, socks, stuffed animals, lotions and puzzle books. Initially, the team hoped to collect enough gifts for 100 people. Instead, the team surpassed that goal, reaching 111 people. They hope to raise that number to 125 next year.

“Too often, senior citizens do not have family geographically close enough to visit during the holidays,” said Kevin S. Flanigan, MD MBA, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Northern Inyo Healthcare District. “Our wonderful team of professionals wanted to ensure these individuals were not forgotten and had something special during this holiday season. Since launching this gift drive, I have seen an incredibly committed group of people that cares about their community coming together to give back to those in need.”
