Building Project Updates
Presently, the hospital is in the midst of a building project to continue the high quality of health care services provided locally, to conform with earthquake safety standards, expand the range of emergency care services, upgrade medical technology and facilities, and improve the outpatient services including radiology and surgery.
The 2005 bond issue building project consists of three new buildings: 1) the Support Building; 2) the Imaging Building; and 3) the Main Hospital Building. The support and imaging buildings are both now complete. Completion of the support and imaging buildings provides for relocation of services out of the oldest section of the hospital (pictured at the right) that is scheduled for demolition. Construction of the new main hospital building began in August 2009 and is expected to be completed October 2011.
The NIH Main Hospital Building will house:
- Inpatient Services
- Emergency Department
- Intensive Care Unit
- Patient Rooms
- Information Technology
- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Labor and Delivery
