Director of Pharmacy - Pharmacy
The Director of Pharmacy shall carry out duties and responsibilities required by Pharmacy Law, California Department of Public Health regulations and standards of The Joint Commission. In addition, the Director of Pharmacy shall be responsible for all aspects of the fiscal operation of the pharmacy department as assigned by the Administrator of the Hospital. As a Pharmacist, the Director shall interpret, compound and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to written prescriptions issued by an authorized prescriber; provide requested drug information to health care professionals and patients, participate in clinical pharmacy services, and provide pharmaceutical care to patients as delineated by Department policies and procedures. The primary professional responsibility of all NIH pharmacists is to provide pharmaceutical care: identifying, assessing and solving medication related problems. Inherent in that responsibility is assisting in promoting safe, efficacious, and cost-effective medication therapy. Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality in all areas involving patients and their related hospital business. Conducts hospital business in an ethical and lawful manner, and is willing to report any knowledge of real or potential fraud or abuse according to the NIH Compliance Code of Conduct. Abides by the NIH Personnel, Payroll Policies and Procedures. Abides by Departmental Policies and Procedures, and standards of performance and conduct. Responsible to the Hospital Administrator or as assigned by the Hospital Administrator Employees supervised are pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support personnel.
Current licensure as a pharmacist by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum 6 months of hospital pharmacy management experience as Director of Pharmacy, Assistant Director of Pharmacy or equivalent title, or completion of an ASHP pharmacy residency program in Pharmacy Administration.
Full-Time Salaried. Exempt. Variable Shifts with Benefits -call time is required.
