About Evelyn

Evelyn de Villiers, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and New York. She earned her Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology, at Alliant International University and completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral internships at Scripps Clinic: Division of Mental Health in San Diego. Dr. de Villiers’ clinical work has included intake assessments, psychological testing, custody evaluations, the treatment of trauma, pain management, and has provided individual, couples and family therapy. She has worked in a variety of settings including University, outpatient clinics (in San Diego and New York City), pain management outpatient treatment programs, crisis house facilities, on-line telemedicine platforms, and private practice. Dr. de Villiers has also provided mental health services to law enforcement and military service members and their families. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. She is also trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is a Gottman Leader providing couples retreats and relationship classes. Additionally, Dr. de Villiers enjoys teaching health and wellness classes and has a special interest in stress, anxiety, depression and their direct correlation with physical illness.

Dr. de Villiers utilizes a wide range of psychological interventions to create unique, multi-dimensional and individually tailored treatment programs with her patients to increase treatment effectiveness. Personal and Spiritual/Christian beliefs will be respected and welcomed in treatment. She creates a safe and supportive atmosphere allowing her patients to learn, grow, and heal.
