Dr. Sharma has experience working in New Zealand with a rural, farming population, in San Francisco with an urban and largely Latino population, in remote Juneau, Alaska, seeing every age from newborns, pregnant women, and the elderly; at a Veterans Clinic in Anchorage, Alaska, caring for patients with multiple chronic illnesses; and at an urgent care center, helping patients with acute needs. She has also volunteered her medical skills internationally, in Ghana and Guatemala, and at a clinic in Stockholm, Sweden for paperless immigrants. She speaks Spanish and spent eight years working with Latino patients.

She has lived in Honduras, New Zealand, and Sweden and travelled to more than 40 countries.
