Knowing your breast cancer risk and when to get screened can raise questions. NIHD breast surgeon Dr. Cheryl Olson will address these topics during “Breast Health: Know Your Risk, Know When to Screen” on Monday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
The Healthy Lifestyle Talk will take place at the NIHD Birch Street Annex, 2957 Birch St., Bishop. Community members can also attend via Zoom. Southern Inyo Healthcare District is co-sponsoring the event.
About 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer during her lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society. Dr. Olson will explain factors that affect a person’s risk and when to get screened.
Dr. Olson is a board-certified general surgeon who provides breast care at NIHD. She performs biopsies to check for cancer and surgery to treat it, including procedures that preserve much of the breast. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
The talk is open to community members. Attend in person or join via Zoom.
