About Monica
Monica spent most of her childhood in Maryland and Pennsylvania, spending her time hiking, caving, and teaching Martial Arts. She moved out west at age 18 to rock climb and attend school. In 2008, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, where she spent summers as a wildland firefighter following two terms on a conservation crew with Americorps.
She graduated with her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2014. Monica received her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Boston University in 2024. Her doctoral research on the efficacy of using a cognitive behavioral approach in the occupational therapy setting to improve daily functioning for individuals living with mental illness, insomnia, or lifestyle deficits, was published in the journal Occupational Therapy in Mental Health in 2024.
Monica lives in Bishop with her husband and enjoys split boarding, tennis, sewing, trail running, and rock climbing.
