NIHD reaffirms commitment to Women’s Health as Dr. Arndal announces relocation

Northern Inyo Healthcare District (NIHD) confirms that longtime Women’s Health provider, Dr. Jeanine Arndal, will leave the District later this summer. Her last day is set for Wednesday, July 24, as she prepares to move to Reno, Nevada.

Dr. Arndal has cared for patients at NIHD and in the Eastern Sierra community for the past 18 years. She joined the medical staff in 2007. During that time, she took on several leadership roles. She served as Chief of Obstetrics from 2010 to 2017, Chair of the Surgery, Tissue, Transfusion, and Anesthesia from 2021 to 2024, and Vice Chief of Staff during the same period. She was also one of the District’s first robot-assisted surgeons, helping introduce the then-new technology to improve patient care.

Leaders at NIHD say Dr. Arndal has made a lasting difference for patients. She helped expand gynecological surgery, mentored new providers, and worked to improve how clinical departments work together.

“Dr. Arndal has been a cornerstone of our Women’s Health team for nearly two decades,” said Dr. Adam Hawkins, NIHD’s Chief Medical Officer. “Her leadership, skill, and dedication to patients have made us stronger. We thank her for her many contributions and wish her the very best in this next chapter.”

Interim Chief Executive Officer Christian Wallis wants to assure the community that women’s health services remain a top priority for NIHD.

Dr. Arndal’s many years of service show a strong and lasting commitment to women’s health in this region,”Wallis said. “As NIHD works through this change, the District is focused on supporting the Rural Health Women’s Clinic team and making sure our patients continue to get the care they need. Our clinic team is ready, experienced, and committed to caring for the women and families of this community.”

The team includes Dr. Martha Kim, Dr. Jeannie Pflum, Certified Nurse Midwives Jennifer Norris and Robyn Lee, and Physician Assistant Jennifer Figueroa. Dr. Hawkins said the team remains prepared to provide complete, patient-centered care for women and their families across the Eastern Sierra. NIHD is working to ensure a smooth transition for Dr. Arndal’s patients and will share more updates soon.
