Northern Inyo Healthcare District invites the community to a free Healthy Lifestyles Talk, “Where Am I on the Path to Diabetes? Exploring Metabolic Health Issues,” on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. NIHD will hold the event at its Birch Street Annex, located near the Jill Kinmont Boothe School in the Manor Market area.
Three local physicians — Anne Wakamiya, MD; Stacey Brown, MD; and Tom Boo, MD — will lead the discussion. They will explain how insulin resistance, high blood sugar, and other metabolic factors shape a person’s risk for developing diabetes. They will also offer practical steps that help people prevent or delay the onset of the disease.
The evening will focus on early warning signs, everyday choices that improve health, and simple ways to understand where someone stands on the path to diabetes. After the presentation, guests will have time to ask questions and speak with the physicians.
The Healthy Lifestyle Talk series is part of NIHD’s ongoing commitment to providing trusted, accessible health education for residents of the Eastern Sierra. All community members are welcome to attend.
