About Chelsea

Chelsea Kaplan enjoys assessing and treating communication, cognitive, and swallowing impairments in individuals of all ages. She previously worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the Kern County Office of Education and the Coastline Community College Acquired Brain Injury program, targeting cognitive rehabilitation and patient integration into a college setting. Her focuses at NIHD remain on assessment and treatment of inpatients in acute care as well as outpatient care of patients across the lifespan. She has received hands-on training and experience in Modified Barium Swallow Evaluations (MBSS) and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing (FEES). She has also received training in the Modified Barium Swallowing Impairment Profile (MBSImP) and is certified in the McNeill Dysphagia Treatment Program (MDTP). Chelsea has received an Award for Continuing Education (ACE) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) due to her passion for learning and desire to provide evidence-based, high-quality care. She moved to Bishop in July 2018 from Southern California. In her free time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, snowboarding, backpacking, and biking.
