Jean Turner, Zone II

Jean TurnerJean Turner, a resident and public servant of Bishop since 1986, represents Zone II on the Northern Inyo Healthcare District Board of Directors.

In 2017, Ms. Turner retired after 14 years as the Director of Inyo County Health and Human Services (HHS). Ms. Turner first began serving as a Social Worker, then moved up through the ranks serving as Supervisor, Deputy Director, and Assistant Director. Her experience includes extensive administrative oversight of various health and human service programs providing care to children, adults, families and senior citizens. She represented Inyo County HHS on numerous task forces and committees in Sacramento, addressing local impacts of state and federal legislation, as well as problem-solving around workforce recruitment and retention concerns.

Elected by her peers across California, Ms. Turner represented 35 California counties on the governing board of the County Medical Services Program (CMSP) during the rollout in California of the federal Affordable Health Care Act. She currently serves on the Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD) governing board.

Ms. Turner joined the NIHD Board of Directors in December 2017.

She has one son who is married and lives with her two adorable grandchildren in San Diego. She continues to love living and playing in the Eastern Sierra.
